The Mediterranean diet has been hailed by many people. It is mainly for its qualities and ability to benefit the body and health as a whole, both in men and women.

But we were surprised by a study conducted in the Netherlands. According to the study, thanks to this diet, women can benefit from greater opportunities for their fertility.

Dutch researchers at the University of Rotterdam showed how although there is no clear link between the Mediterranean diet and fertility, women who faithfully followed such a diet showed that they had more chance of becoming pregnant.

The results were published in the journal Fertility & Sterility, and it was estimated that to increase the probability of being pregnant by 40%, it is enough to follow a correct Mediterranean diet. According to the researchers, these results may be due to the contribution of the b6 and omega-6 acids that are easily absorbed through the Mediterranean diet.

Eat well

If you are female, a balanced diet will improve your health and condition in general. This ensures that your body is able to feed a child. Choose a diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Also bread, potatoes, rice, and other cereals, dairy, and meat without much fat, fish, and other sources of protein.

Be careful with your weight

Being overweight or underweight can interrupt the menstrual cycle and risk pregnancy. A female with a bodily index (BMI) of 29 or more and with 19 or less finds it harder to get pregnant. To find your body index, share your weight in kg by twice your length. Fertility medications may not be effective for females who are very overweight or obese.

Careful with drinking

Doctors don’t recommend drinking alcohol. Males should not drink alcohol excessively because they risk sperm damage.

Quit smoking

Tobacco is known to cause premature infertility and menopause in females and sperm problems in males. Tobacco also reduces the chances of fertility medication success.

Stay active

Regular moderate exercises (such as momentum walking) will hold on to the ideal weight and increase the chances of conception. Exercise lowers stress and raises levels of endorphin, the hormone that makes us feel good.

Stay fresh

For optimal sperm production, testicles must be several degrees colder than the rest of the body. Avoid jeans or tight underwear as well as hot water tubs and saunas.

Your job

Occupations that keep you sitting for a long time, such as long-road drivers or exposure to various chemicals and pesticides affect sperm quality.

Manage stress

Stress does not cause infertility, but high-stress levels affect the menstrual cycle.

Take folic acid

All women trying to have children should take a 40mcg folic acid supplement a day to avoid some birth defects. /
